Conservation Commission Minutes 11/19/08
Greenfield Conservation Commission
Minutes
November 19, 2008
7:30 pm

Attended:       Carol Irvin, Chair; Neal Brown; Karen Day; Roger Lessard;
Guests:  John Gryval, Liz Thomas

  • Mr. Gryval stopped by to say hello and comment that the ZBA and ConCom will probably see a lot of wetlands issues in the future. He also wanted to note that the ZBA will be conducting a site walk of the proposed subdivision on New Boston Road and invited the ConCom to attend the site walk. The walk is scheduled for this next Saturday. The applicant wants to put in a driveway that will disturb the 25 foot buffer.
  • Action Taken:  Members of the Commission expressed interest in joining the ZBA on the site walk scheduled for the following Saturday.
  • Liz Thomas from Peterborough stopped by to discuss the pending conservation easement on the lot in Greenfield. She has decided to retain the right to build one house on the lot rather than the two that was in the draft easement.
  • Action Taken: The ConCom discussed the merits of the easement and the Monadnock Conservancy’s request for funding for the transaction costs. The ConCom voted unanimously to fund the full request of approximately $6,700. Carol will make an appointment to report this decision to the Board of Selectmen.
  • Discussed the work of one landowner on Sunset Lake who may be in violation of the Shoreland Protection Act.  The Commission has received a response from this landowner to the second notification. The landowner’s response indicates that the landowner did not obtain any permits for the work, but is planning a trip to Concord to meet with DES to discuss want is required at this point in time.
  • Action Taken:  The Greenfield Conservation Commission will send a response thanking the landowner for attending to this matter.
